My Favourite Video Games

Image
The first game I ever played was Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Megadrive at my dad's house. Obviously I was shit, what with only just being potty trained, but I love being able to say that I've been playing video games for most of my life. It wasn't until I turned 6 that my mum brought home a Playstation 1. I would sit in silence and watch her play for hours on end. Games like Crash Bandicoot, Worms, Resident Evil and Silent Hill. (Don't worry, they didn't really scare me because I didn't understand, but I vividly remember those damn nurses 😷) It wasn't until a couple of years later, (once I was old enough to play them properly) that I moved the Playstation to my bedroom. I don't even wanna think about how many hours I spent playing Spyro 2, Pandemonium and Tekken 3. (To be fair, I was an only child with no mates so when I wasn't watching repeats of The Simpsons there wasn't much else for me to do). I would lose myself in the game-pla...

My favourite things to do in Whitby

Image
Hidden away on the east coast of Yorkshire, lies a little seaside town named Whitby. Overlooking the North Sea, this town stands out from the rest for so many reasons. From the beautifully Gothic Whitby Abbey perched atop the east cliff, to the whimsical little cobbled streets, snickets and alleyways, there are so many things to do here, and so many magical things to see. Back in March of 2014, for a very brief period of time I was lucky enough to live there. (I'm not even gonna go into why I only lived there for 12 weeks, let's just say we had an incredibly inconsiderate landlord). For me, the decision to move to Whitby was a no-brainer. Who wouldn't want to live by the beach, surrounded by history, stunning Victorian buildings and the best fish and chips shops ever?  (Magpie Cafe & Trenchers anyone?) I mean, just look at this view. Why wouldn't anyone want to wake up to this every morning? 😍 My photo of Whitby harbour, April 2015 So, here is a lis...

I'm going Vegan for 30 days

Image
Yesterday, on the official PETA website, I signed a 30 day pledge to go Vegan. In the past 24 hours I've already discovered pretty much every thing I use on a daily basis is not cruelty free, or at least not from a cooperation that completely bans animal testing. I think one of the most surprising discoveries I've made so far is that brown sugar (probably something as far removed from animals as you can get) is deemed not safe to eat for Vegans. After doing some googling, I came across this: “British Sugar, trading as Silver Spoon (the largest UK supplier) state that their white sugar is vegan but they cannot guarantee their brown sugars as some bone charcoal may be used by their suppliers.” - via www.veganconnection.com How nuts is that! How the hell are these things being sold on shelves every where as if that's normal?! All I've been doing for the past couple of days is researching into every thing about going Vegan. Things like, is my toot...

7 reasons why I fell in love with York

Image
When I was 18, I was given the chance to move to York with my parents. They bought a shop on The Shambles and filled it with bath bombs, soaps, and home made cupcake candles. (My mum made these from scratch with wax and fragrances) Back then it was called Scentiments, but they changed the name to Tonic Cosmetics a couple of years later. My photo of Clifford's Tower, Oct 2015 We first lived in the Clifton Moor area, down a beautiful drive surrounded by beautiful houses. We then moved to a cul de sac down Monkgate, then to Huntington a year later, and a year after that I moved out of my parents house and lived in a tiny flat on Ousegate, which was in the middle of the city, on a bridge, above a 24 hour Tesco. (The sound of 4am deliveries and race-goers puking outside my window still haunts me to this day) In early 2014 I moved to Whitby, and back to York again down the South Bank area. I know right? I'm knackered just from writing about how many times I moved house! ...
